CALLING ALL PARENTS: WE NEED YOU!
Beginning in September 2017, Forest Hill Elementary will now have two Home & School Associations, to better address the unique needs of each school.
The Home & School works hard to bring you such events & activities as Pizza/Subway lunches, Ice cream days, picture days, school supplies, Craft Fair, Annual BBQ. The hard work of the Home & School volunteers helps to coordinate these activities and fundraisers that help to bring so many amazing programs and initiatives to our schools.
All executive and coordinator positions are up for elections (May 29, 2017). In order for the two new Home & School Associations to form, we need some key positions to be filled (President, Treasurer, Secretary). We still need people! We need you!
We are looking for people who would be interested in filling out these positions or act as a coordinator for our various fundraisers.
Please, if you haven't signed up already, please sign up at the Junior or Senior campus and come out to the elections tomorrow.
We hope to see you there!

We are happy to announce that preparations for our Spring Craft Fair on May 7th 2016 are well underway.
We are soliciting your help as a donator for one or more of our various raffle prizes. As a parent, community member and maybe also as a local merchant or an employee of a local merchant, the Spring Craft Fair gives your business a great opportunity for visibility in our community. We are looking for beauty products, clothing, sports goods and more. You can also donate gift certificates. Here are examples on how they were packaged last year.
All crafters are already confirmed, the list is posted below and each of them has the opportunity to post what they have in store for you on the Facebook event page. Please help us make this event a success by sharing the event on Facebook with friends and family members: https://www.facebook.com/events/807099962751421/
Welcome to our new website! We've made the jump to digital communication to save some paper and get news to you faster; also, we will no longer be using the LBPSB email system for alerts (that's for emergencies only), so this is the place to visit for H&S info.
We will be using this blog to fill you, the parents, in on all the comings and goings at Forest Hill Elementary, so be sure to subscribe to our mailing list! To do so, please send us an email at email@example.com. We'll only send emails about important things, like new blog posts and updates on order forms, fundraisers, and activities. You can also keep up to date by following our Facebook page.
You can also use this website to find forms, make orders, and donate to the Home and School Association. We accept credit cards and we give tax receipts for all donations over $20. Even $5 can help us out! We count on your support to provide the kids with the tools they need to love learning.
Club Energy Forest Hill Senior is more active than ever thanks to their Club Energy program, which allows students to take a "brain break" during class time. There are 10 indoor stations set up around the school, and students can spend ten minutes at a time engaging in physical challenges, body movement exercises, and team spirit tasks, all of which contribute to improving the academic learning experience. It's made a big difference already, according to the students themselves; they also love the extra challenges provided by a Recreational Activities Technician at the outdoor stations during recess and lunch. This is something we'd love to get going at FHJ. By supporting any one of our fundraisers, parents can help contribute to this great program so we can get Club Energy Junior started. There is no doubt that younger students could benefit from the extra movement - just look at the success we've had with the hokki stools! Our kids need our support! Our 2015-2016 cheque fundraising campaign has been very successful to date. We've raised over $3,000 so far and we want to get to $5,000 so we can keep up all the good work. We have purchased hokki stools to allow more energetic kids to keep moving while they're learning. We would also like to purchase more noise-canceling headphones for students who are easily distracted in class. Another project we'd love to get moving on is repainting the games in the schoolyard at the Junior campus. We're hoping to get parent volunteers to do the painting, so the only cost would be supplies.
The Home and School Association just signed up for FundScrip, an online site where you can buy all sorts of gift cards, and a portion of the sale comes right back to us, anywhere from 2-5%. You can get cards for Toys R Us, Wal Mart, Pharmaprix, Petro Canada, and many many more. If you're planning on handing out gift cards for Christmas, consider picking them up online at FundScrip. They'll be mailed right to you, so you can pop them in an envelope and hand them out. This goes on all year and you can use it every month to by gift cards for your gas and groceries, and the H&S Association will benefit!
Spring Craft Fair - Save the Date
Our next craft fair takes place at Forest Hill Senior on May 7. We have lots more space this year, which means room for more crafters, so stay tuned for more details!
